Metade dos Holandeses a favor da legalização

Numa votação recente os resultados indicaram que cerca de 50% da população holandesa acha que a canábis devia ser completamente legalizada, enquanto que 25% quer uma proibição total.

Os apoiantes do partido de esquerda dos verdes (Groenlinks) tendem a favor da legalização (88%), enquanto que os apoiantes dos dois partidos cristãos que governam neste momento (CDA e ChristenUnie) querem proibir as drogas leves e fechar todas as coffeeshops.

Uma descoberta extraordinária é que a maioria dos fumadores é apoiante dos partidos socialista (SP) e anti-islâmico (PVV). O partido PVV de Geert Wilders opõe-se fortemente ao uso e à legalização das drogas leves.

Fred Teeven, membro do partido popular para a liberdade e democracia (VVD), afirmou que o seu partido apoia o cultivo da canábis, mas apenas na quantidade necessária para fornecer as coffeeshops. Estima-se que 80% de todas as colheitas de canábis holandesas são exportadas para os países vizinhos. O VVD quer ainda transformar as coffeeshops em “clubes sociais”, onde apenas membros possam comprar canábis.

Esta semana o gabinete está em debate sobre a futura lei das drogas. Enquanto que os partidos cristãos CDA e CU preferem ver as coffeeshops desaparecerem completamente, o partido de coligação PVDA quer lhes sejam dadas mais possibilidades de adquirirem o seu estoque.

I wonder what the advantage of memberships are. The age limit is already very strictly enforced, so it wouldn't make any difference there.
The only thing I can think of is a maximum amount per user per month.
But for this to work it has to be done with a centralised system of a whole city. And that is very costly for such a small group.

too bad, that none of the ones in
favor of a legalisation are in charge.

only the dumbheaded right-wingers,
that already have done a great deal
of restriction (and this unfortunately
won't stop).

It is like terence mckenna once said:"If the words 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' don't
include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the
Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on." And that is so true everbody should have the right to decide which substances he is going to take but the government rather keeps the people intoxicated with alcohol so that they won´t question this system of corruption and capitalistic aspirations
